KISS: Special Display Available At Seattle's EMP

This summer, Experience Music Project (EMP) presents a unique new display dedicated to the infamous band KISS, opening June 13 and running through early Fall, 2003. Visitors and fans can get a close-up look at some of KISS' most well-known memorabilia, including stage costumes worn by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss during their 1996 "Alive Worldwide" tour, Gene Simmons' Dragon Boots, Paul Stanley's boots, and the "Destroyer" and "Alive!" album covers.

Since storming onto the rock music scene in 1974, KISS has been one of the most successful bands in history. During their 1976 four-night stand in Tokyo, Japan, KISS broke attendance records formerly held by THE BEATLES. In 1983 they sold out three consecutive shows at the world's largest stadium, Maracana, in Rio de Janeiro, with a total attendance of nearly 250,000. Their 1996 "Alive Worldwide" reunion tour was the industry's top gross, taking in over $43 million.

KISS is America's #1 Gold Record Award-Winning Group (RIAA — Group Category). To date, KISS has sold over 80 million records, including 31 platinum discs and 28 gold discs. In addition, they have five platinum and four gold video titles. Their stage outfits were installed in the Hollywood Wax Museum in 1977. Their footprints can be found on the sidewalk outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre and on the famous "Rock Walk" sidewalk in Hollywood, California. The band's costumes and makeup are among the most recognizable images in the world, appearing on t-shirts, lunchboxes, burial coffins, and even the official KISS Platinum Visa card.
