KING DIAMOND: 'Give Me Your Soul' Video Available

February 28, 2008

Headbanger's Blog is hosting the video for KING DIAMOND's song "Give Me Your Soul". Watch the clip below. (Note: Video stream may not be available to some non-U.S. residents.)

King Diamond has issued the following statement regarding the video's unavailability outside the U.S.: "Regarding the problem of seeing the new video if you're outside of the U.S.: I have just talked to Metal Blade Records on the phone and they talked to MTV while I was holding and the following is what I've been told: MTVhas the exclusive premier of this new video. This means that you can only view the video if you're in the U.S. until the exclusiveness expires right after the airing of 'Headbanger's Ball' on Wednesday morning at 3AM. THE GOOD NEWS IS, MTV has been so cool, because of all the requests from people outside of the U.S. to see the video, that they will waive their rights to the exclusiveness of this new video already tomorrow, meaning that sometime tomorrow anyone will be able to see the video (the uncensored version) either on our MySpace site or Metal Blade's website, and of course the covenworldwide will also have the video available. Hereafter Metal Blade will, of course, spread the video as much as possible. As soon as we get the GO from Metal Blade tomorrow, we will let you all know. Sorry for the inconvenience, but at least no one will have to wait until next Tuesday."

The band's first video in 17 years was shot in September 2007 with director Bill Schacht from video company Aestheticom, which has previously worked with DIO, ALICE COOPER and DREAM THEATER, among other artists. Speaking to MTV.com, the group's frontman/namesake — who is currently suffering from a herniated disc — said about the video shoot, "They limited what I had to do, of course, so I only did one day of shooting for 90 minutes, but just standing there moving a little bit in the full outfit was very difficult. And afterwards, I got one of those sharp attacks of pain that I hadn't had in a month and a half. The only thing I can compare it to is a really super-bad toothache or earache. And afterwards, I was like, 'OK, I'm not ready [to tour] yet.' "

A live interview with King Diamond (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) will air on "The Vault of Metal" show on Friday, February 29 beginning around 1:00 p.m. EST.

KING DIAMOND recently received a Grammy nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the track "Never Ending Hill" off the group's latest album, "Give me Your Soul … Please".

In November, KING DIAMOND cancelled its North American headlining tour — which was scheduled to launch March 23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and run through May 8 in Houston — due to a herniated disc.

"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 28. The CD also landed at No. 58 on the Danish chart (the second highest new entry on the chart behind VELVET REVOLVER).

"Give Me Your Soul ... Please" sold 4,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 174 on The Billboard 200 chart.
