KATAFALK Part Ways With Drummer, Announce Replacement

July 18, 2005

Dutch death thrashers KATAFALK have parted ways with drummer Michiel. According to a posting on the group's web site, Michiel "wants to concentrate on his duties in PROSTITUTE DISFIGUREMENT, which is — not totally coincidentally — the ex-band of KATAFALK guitarist Niels van Wijk."

"We want to thank Michiel for 3.5 years of service and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours! Former KATAFALK skinsman Martin has stepped right up to reclaim his place behind the kit. Martin played drums in KATAFALK during 1998-2001 so that's a welcome back to the family! Speaking of family, guitarist Niels is expecting his first-born child anytime soon so we are forced to cancel our appearance at the Rotting in the Sun Fest in Ieper/Ypres (B). We'll blow your heads off later!"

KATAFALK's debut album, "Storm of the Horde", was released in 2003 through the now-defunct label Cold Blood Industries. A four-song promotional demo, which was recorded at Soundlodge studio in Germany, followed in 2004.
