JUDAS PRIEST Guitarist Auctioning GIBSON Axe For Charity

March 8, 2006

JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton is auctioning off his original "Battle Scarred" Gibson SG guitar that he has used on stage for many years. Glenn is donating all proceeds to the Teenage Cancer Trust charity. You have until March 14 to put your bids in. This is a chance for you to own one of Glenn Tipton's original guitars signed by him — so start bidding now! More information is available at this location.

Glenn Tipton's collection of recordings with the late, great THE WHO bassist John Entwistle and drummer Cozy Powell (RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH),entitled "Edge of the World", was released on Tuesday (March 7) via Rhino Records.

As previously reported, JUDAS PRIEST will be making their only live appearance of 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England on March 31. "This is a special performance in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity and is a tribute to Tommy Vance (U.K.'s 'Friday Rock Show') who sadly is no longer with us," reads a posting on PRIEST's web site. Also appearing will be special guests the SCORPIONS and IAN GILLAN & FRIENDS. Opening the show will be an unknown band called BONED, whom Tommy Vance was a great supporter of.

JUDAS PRIEST's "Rising in the East" DVD was recently certified gold in the United States by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of 50,000 copies. The DVD was released in the USA and Canada on November 15, 2005. The disc was filmed in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive JUDAS PRIEST lineup — vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis — played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album "Angel of Retribution", their first new material in 15 years. "Rising in the East" is JUDAS PRIEST's first straight-to-DVD release.

Columbia/Legacy has set an April 4, 2006 release date for JUDAS PRIEST's vintage concert DVD "Live Vengeance '82", which was previously only available on DVD as limited-edition bonus with "Metalogy" box set.
