JIMMY PAGE Unveiled As 'Living Legend' At Third Annual CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS

August 23, 2007

Legendary guitarist Jimmy Page, is to be honored as the Living Legend at this year's Classic Rock Roll of Honour, Classic Rock magazine's third annual award show, which this year takes place on Monday, November 5, 2007 at London's prestigious Landmark Hotel. Elsewhere in the awards, one of the most headline-grabbing, eyebrow-raising rock events of the year, Keith Richards snorting his father's ashes, gets its very own nomination in the "Event of the Year" category alongside the reformation of both GENESIS and THE POLICE, AEROSMITH's critically-acclaimed Hyde Park Calling performance and LOU REED's historic Berlin concert.

In another year dominated by reformations and heritage acts performing for the first time in years, the Roll of Honour nominations feature some of the world's biggest rock stars as well as the unsung and often overlooked heroes of rock n' roll. Taking on the big guns for the title of "Band of the Year" are UK chart-toppers MUSE and US super-group VELVET REVOLVER who have the likes of AEROSMITH, HEAVEN AND HELL and RUSH to contend with. VELVET REVOLVER also feature in the nominations for the "Album of the Year" category alongside such luminaries as IAN HUNTER, PORCUPINE TREE, RUSH and THE WHO.

Chris Ingham, publisher of Classic Rock magazine, commented: "Each year the Roll of Honour further cements its position as the awards that the stars really care about. The list of stars attending last year's ceremony was unsurpassed and with the awards taking place in the uber-exclusive surroundings of the Landmark Hotel, plus the fantastic news that Classic Rock magazine continues to be the UK's fastest-growing music magazine means this year's awards will again be the event of the year"

Classic Rock magazine has continued to be the UK's fastest growing music magazine, increasing its circulation by another 20% year-on-year to a total of 67,241 readers a month — its highest ever circulation. In a time when other UK music magazines struggle to retain readers, Classic Rock magazine continues to prove that by listening to its readers and delivering engaging content a magazine can flourish.
