JEFF KOLLMAN: New Live And Studio Albums On The Way

Guitarist Jeff Kollman (GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY, UFO) and his band COSMOSQUAD will be appearing at the Baked Potato, 3878 Cahuenga Blvd. W. in Universal City, CA this Saturday, April 1 for a double header. The first set kicks off at 9.30pm.

States Kollman: "We'll be recording for a solo live album, with our good friend Bob Bradshaw coming down to engineer. We are doing songs from both COSMOSQUAD records, my last solo disc, 'Shedding Skin', including some songs we haven't done live yet, and we might pull out a couple of tunes off the MOGG/WAY and $IGN OF 4 records I did with Phil Mogg. It's gonna be a well-rounded, eclectic set and extra special because Ed Roth (GLENN HUGHES, IMPELLITTERI) is joining us on keyboards for the occasion, a first for us in a live setting.

"Speaking of COSMOSQUAD, Shane (Gaalaas) and I have written a lot of material for a new studio album and we'll probably start tracking sometime in April. The biggest challenge will be trying to corner the perpetually busy Mr. Barry Sparks for a couple of days between his solo gigs and Uncle Ted so we can knock out all the bass tracks. I've also accumulated a bunch of stuff for another solo album but we'll knock out the new COSMOSQUAD first.

"Also, I'll be joining the great ULI JON ROTH & FRIENDS when he heads into town for a series of concerts that will be taking place May 24, 26 and 27 at the Freud Theater on the campus of UCLA. I first met Uli back in '98 on the European G3 tour when I played bass for MSG and it's an extreme honor to share the stage with him again. He's got a lot of cool special guests lined up for this, including Warren DeMartini, Tony Franklin, Jeff Scott Soto, Eric Singer, Chris Poland, and Roy Z, so it should be a great event. In other Jeff Kollman news, the guitarist has been collaborating with Jono Brown and placed music in major motion pictures such as "Slither", "8 Below", and "Fantastic Four", as well as Showtime's "Masters of Horrors" series. Another track, "Captivity", from the forthcoming Roland Joffe-directed movie of the same name, is currently getting airplay on Scott Mason's show on KROQ radio in Los Angeles. Kollman will also be making his acting debut, playing the role of jazz great Barry Galbraith, alongside fellow six-string masters Steve Vai and Tony MacAlpine in the upcoming bio pic "Crazy", based on the life of post-World War II Nashville guitar legend, Hank Garland.
