JAMES HETFIELD Signed Nixon Watch Auction Launched

September 24, 2004

Nixon recently released a limited collection of one-of-a-kind watches made from celebrity leather jackets and guitar straps to be sold at retail with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting MAP (Musicians' Assistance Program). METALLICA's James Hetfield donated a leather jacket and has now made one of the watches from his personal collection available for auction. Only ten of the watches were made, and number nine is for sale here, including the box autographed by James.

The watch is part of Nixon's LTD collection that started out using vintage leather jackets they found in Southern California thrift shops and turned personal when actors, musicians and athletes donated their old jackets and guitar straps to make the watches for charity. James' watch is the GTO style. For more information about Nixon watches, visit their web site: www.nixonnow.com

All proceeds from this auction will also go MAP, dedicated to making it possible for members of the music industry to receive treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, regardless of their financial condition. For more information about MAP, visit their web site: www.map2000.org.
