IRON MAIDEN Drummer's Restaurant Honored For 'Best Ribs'

June 18, 2012

Rock N Roll Ribs, the barbecue restaurant owned by IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain and close friend Mitch Tanne, was honored for "Best Ribs 2012" by the web site Broward-Palm Beach New Times.

A posting on the site reads: "When pondering what makes a good rack of ribs, two things naturally come to mind — heavy metal and Coral Springs. Rock N Roll Ribs is run by Nicko McBrain, drummer for legendary band IRON MAIDEN. Though the interior of the restaurant looks more like an Iron Maiden shrine in a teenaged boy's bedroom than a rib joint, this place knows barbecue. The coma-inducing combination of crispy charred pork slathered in the restaurant's sticky, sweet, and tangy barbecue sauce is a recipe for one totally bitchin' rack."

Rock N Roll Ribs held its second-anniversary party on December 17, 2011 in Coral Springs, Florida. Photos and video footage of the event can be seen below. More pictures are available from WENN.

A barbecue joint with a musical bent, Rock N Roll Ribs showcases its love for smokey Southern cooking with food like barbecued pork and chicken and clever takes on MAIDEN songs, like "Run to the Hills" wings.

"It's not just MAIDEN fans that come in," McBrain said about the restaurant in a 2010 interview. "We do get a lot of pilgrimages, people come in and look at all the stuff on the walls, but most people that come in always come out satisfied. And it's not major expensive. A rack of ribs is $16, and you get a pound and a quarter to a pound and a half of ribs."
