HEART's ANN WILSON Performs Blues And Rock Covers On 'The Kate'

April 6, 2016

Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ann Wilson makes a rare television appearance on the new public TV music series "The Kate", where she sings a full-hour set with her solo project, THE ANN WILSON THING, consisting of passionate blues and rock covers. The 65-year-old singer performs passionate renditions of BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD's "For What It's Worth", Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way", John Lennon's "Isolation" and Bob Dylan's "Every Grain of Sand". Wilson also speaks frankly about getting married and how that reflects on her art; spending the first forty percent of her career trying to be taken seriously as a female rock artist; and the notion of HEART as role models for women.

Viewers can stream the full episode starting this Saturday, April 9, on TheKate.tv or on public TV stations around the country (check local listings at TheKate.tv).

The opening number from THE ANN WILSON THING's "The Kate" concert — a very enthusiastic, rhythmic cover of BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD's "For What It's Worth" — can be seen below. Their rendition is also featured on THE ANN WILSON THING's EP, "#1".

HEART's most recent album, "Fanatic", was released in 2012.

"The Kate" is named after the iconic actress and series muse Katharine Hepburn, since the program films at Old Saybrook's historical venue, The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. Season One airing this spring/summer features bold, intimate performances from gutsy artists with something to say who are pushing their artistic boundaries in new ways and sharing their personal journey through performance and storytelling.
