HAMMERFALL: The Spanish Inquisition

July 15, 2003

HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message to the band's official web site:

"We've just returned from one of Europe's (most likely the world's) better metal festivals, namely Metal Mania in Spain. Headlined by SLAYER, IRON MAIDEN and STRATOVARIUS, and with a supporting cast of bands like BLIND GUARDIAN, MOTÖRHEAD, MASTERPLAN, PRIMAL FEAR, DARK TRANQUILLITY, SAXON, SEPULTURA, NIGHTWISH and a host of others, this three-day spectacle drew 25-30,000 fans each day. Needless to say, it was a fantastic experience for us, and I want to thank all the metal heads — and there were quite a few! — for the support. Seeing that many pairs of hands in the air is a sight not easily forgotten! But also the festival organizers for their great attitude. Much like the Germans at Bang Your Head, this is how you take care of your artists. Greatness!

"At the moment, I am on vacation in Norrland with my girlfriend, visiting friends and relaxing. Last week was spent hanging out with the wild and wacky guys in NOCTURNAL RITES, and now I am on the country side enjoying the nature and calmness of it. But also working on the final details for the live releases we have planned this year. The CD audio is being mixed in Studio Fredman by Fredrik Nordström and [HAMMERFALL guitarist] Stefan [Elmgren] right now, and in two weeks the 5.1 mix for the DVD will take place. We are also preparing some bonus material, but more on that at a later date. Now, it's time to play a little with the two border collies inhibiting this house. C-ya soon, have a grrrrreat summer (sorry, just had some Frosties...)!"
