HAMMERFALL Confirm Plans To Tour U.S. With EDGUY

April 16, 2005

HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"Next week will see the first full-blown production gigs with HAMMERFALL in two years, and it all happens in Switzerland and Germany. Be sure to give going to the gig some serious thought if you have the chance to, because I promise you have never seen anything like it from us before!

"With the Brazilian shows, the Japanese/South American tour is now booked and confirmed, and here's the complete routing:

May 20 - Club Quattro - Osaka, Japan
May 21 - Shibuya O-East - Tokyo, Japan
May 24 - Planet Mall - San José, Costa Rica
May 26 - Hard Rock Live - Guadalajara, Mexico
May 28 - Monterrey Metal Fest - Monterrey, Mexico
May 29 - Circo Valador - Mexico City, Mexico
May 31 - Cupula del Parque O'Higgins - Santiago, Chile
Jun. 02 - Master Hall - Curitiba, Brazil
Jun. 03 - Olympia - São Paolo, Brazil
Jun. 04 - Olympia - São Paolo, Brazil
Jun. 05 - Chevrolet Hall - Belo Horizonte, Brazil

"Please note that the São Paolo and Belo Horizonte gigs are together with TWISTED SISTER, which should make them remarkably memorable evenings for all involved!

"On a somewhat related touring matter, the U.S. leg that has been long
rumored was also confirmed a few days ago. It's true, it's true! Beginning on August 10th in Toronto, Canada, we will travel around North America together with EDGUY. The tour will last three weeks, and is perfectly slotted between Wacken Open Air and the Bloodstock Festival. I'm assuming we'll hit the major cities, although there are bound to be some that will have to take a miss due to the limited time span of the tour. Check back in a week or two, I should have the complete routing with venues then.

"Much to my surprise, we received almost unanimous praise for the cover of 'Vindarna Viskar Mitt Namn'. I was sure there would be at least a few who would detest the fact that a heavy metal band had anything to do with something like this, but I guess times really have changed. It was a fun thing to do, and got us a lot of exposure — a whopping 2,7 million were watching last Friday, close to a third of the entire Swedish population! If nothing else, we have showed them how a 'schlager' could — should? ;-) — be done. And hopefully raised the awareness of heavy metal in a few minds along the way. Keep the flame burning, everyone!"

Tentative HAMMERFALL/EDGUY North American tour dates:

Aug. 10 – Toronto, ONT @ TBA
Aug. 11 – Montreal, QUE @ Medley
Aug. 12 - Quebec City, QUE @ Imperial
Aug. 15 - West Springfield, VA @ Jaxx
Aug. 16 – New York, NY @ B.B. King's

More dates will be announced soon.
