HAIL OF BULLETS: Studio Update

February 19, 2008

HAIL OF BULLETS, the new band featuring GOREFEST drummer Ed Warby, THANATOS guitarists Stephan Gebédi and Paul Baayens, former PESTILENCE/ASPHYX singer Martin Van Drunen and former HOUWITSER bass player Theo van Eekelen, has entered Excess studios in Rotterdam, Holland to begin recording its debut album for a May release via Metal Blade Records.

Commented Warby: "Today we had the first of three planned vocal days, and Herr van Drunen nailed five songs in as many hours. You should hear the man warm up, it's quite an experience... On many of these songs I'm hearing vocal lines for the first time, and it's fantastic stuff. The lyrics are already quite a vivid read, but hearing them screamed, growled and vomited is an entirely different thing! We mess around with little timing things afterwards, but mostly these are done in one or two whole takes. To wrap up a long day (we did drum-editing/cleaning in the morning),our engineer Chris cranked up the last song on the big-ass speakers (that you never use in the studio cause they make everything sound way too good),and we just sat there grinning like monkeys at the awesomeness pouring out. Life is good."

HAIL OF BULLETS' semi-legendary four-track promotional CD, which recently brought the band a deal with Metal Blade Records, was scheduled to be released on vinyl last month through Iron Pegasus Records from Germany. The limited-edition EP is being made available in two different versions from various mailorders and underground labels throughout Europe and the U.S.

HAIL OF BULLETS was formed in late 2006 through a mutual love for old-school death metal bands like AUTOPSY, BOLT THROWER, MASSACRE, CELTIC FROST and DEATH. In the summer of 2007, the band entered a Rotterdam studio to record a four-song promotional CD, which was mixed by the infamous death metal guru Dan Swanö in Sweden. Swanö stated upon the CD's completion: "If this promo doesn't get you guys a good record deal, I will eat my laptop!"

HAIL OF BULLETS' entire four-song promotional CD is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.
