GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist RICHARD FORTUS To Continue Work On 'Chinese Democracy'

December 6, 2005

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus told the German GN'R fan site GUNSNROSESonline.DE on Saturday (Dec. 3) that he will return to Los Angeles following the completion of his current European tour as a backing musician for the German singer NENA to complete the recordings for the long-awaited new GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy".

Fortus makes an appearance on NENA's new album, which has been certified platinum in Germany.

As previously reported, Fortus and his wife Jen welcomed a daughter, Paisley Piper, on November 5. Check out pictures at RichardFortusOnline.com.

Geffen Records will release a two-CD "best of" collection from GUNS N' ROSES, entitled "Welcome to the Jungle: The Very Best of Guns N' Roses", on December 20. This set will reportedly come in both "Parental Advisory" and edited forms.

The first GUNS N' ROSES hits collection, released in March of 2004, has sold 2.55 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundsScan. GUNS N' ROSES vocalist Axl Rose, along with former guitarist Slash and ex-bassist Duff McKagan, tried to block the release of "Greatest Hits" with a lawsuit, claiming that the record label had assembled the CD without their input.

The band's label, Geffen Records, insisted that it was forced to put out a greatest hits album since Axl Rose had failed to deliver the long-delayed new GUNS album, "Chinese Democracy".
