Guitarist/vocalist Sully Erna of GODSMACK was interviewed on the "Half-Assed Morning Show" on the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota radio station 93X Rocks! this past Wednesday (April 15). The chat is now available for download as an MP3 audio file at this location.
GODSMACK is part of the lineup for MÖTLEY CRÜE's Crüe Fest 2 tour, which will also include THEORY OF A DEADMAN, DROWNING POOL, and new act CHARM CITY DEVILS.
Sully Erna recently completed work on his first solo album, although he has yet to reveal a title or release date for the disc. Instead, the New England-based Erna has been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles lately, where he told The Pulse of Radio he's taking a different approach to getting his new music heard. "What we're doing right now is just speaking with a lot of different film companies to see what movies are coming out this year and next year and trying to attach some of the songs to that, 'cause it's a very different kind of sounding record," he said. "It's definitely a huge departure from anything I've ever done."
Erna also confirmed that writing is underway for GODSMACK's fifth studio album and first collection of all-new material since 2006's "IV", with the record likely to come out in 2010.
In late 2007, the band released a greatest hits collection called "Good Times, Bad Times - Ten Years of Godsmack" and announced that it was going on hiatus. Erna worked on his solo album during this period, while the other three members of the group started a side project called ANOTHER ANIMAL.
