GODSMACK: Acoustic EP Certified Gold, Band To Launch INDY 500 With Pre-Race Lap

May 27, 2004

GODSMACK's recent release, the acoustic "The Other Side" EP has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Universal Records Group has also just released "The Other Side" as a surround sound 5.1-channel high definition Super Audio CD (SACD),one of a select few available today in this genre of music. The SACD music disc features a high definition 5.1 channel surround track that envelops the listener with the aural ambiance of the music hall. Combined with SACD's superior dynamic range, definition and clarity, this disc perfectly captures the full dynamic impact of a live performance. It is a dual-layer "hybrid" that allows it to be played in stereo with standard CD sound quality by any conventional CD player.

GODSMACK, fresh off 100 dates of a sold-out tour with METALLICA, will join a number of today's top celebrities at the 88th running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race on Sunday, May 30. They have been invited to launch the legendary car race, known as the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing," by circling the track in a specially designed convertible Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car. The band — guitarist/vocalist Sully Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Shannon Larkin — are all huge race fans, as frontman Erna confirms: "If we weren't there in person, we'd all be glued to the television and calling it a party."
