GOD FORBID Guitarist Checks In From The Road

May 17, 2004

GOD FORBID guitarist "Doc" Coyle has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"What's up, brothas and sistas! Doc here from GOD FORBID checking in from the road. Sorry it's been so long between updates, but it gets hectic on tour and hard to get ample time at a computer.

"First off, we are having a blast on the road right now with MACHINE HEAD and 36 CRAZYFISTS. It's cool to hang out with old friends like the FISTS, but it came a big surprise that MACHINE HEAD had treated us like family since day one. We walked into our dressing on the first non-festival gig of the tour in Albany, and there was an extra case of beer with a note saying 'To GOD FORBID, Love MACHINE HEAD.' Anyone who knows us understands the way to our hearts is through food and liquor, so this made for a great start.

"We are very disappointed that ARCH ENEMY dropped off because besides being one of our favorite bands, they are good people so I hope whatever it is that happened gets taken care of. As they say, the show must go on.

"To backtrack a bit, we've been out for about 6 weeks now leapfrogging from tour to tour, which included 2 and 1/2 weeks headlining down south with SCARS OF TOMMOROW, TRIVIUM, and ALL THAT REMAINS, and a week on the Jager tour with SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY, and CHIMAIRA. Although the headlining shows were not huge, the amount of fun had by all was great. It was TRIVIUM's first tour, so it was great to break their tour cherries and test their livers. Everyone check TRIVIUM out on the ICED EARTH tour. The Jager shows were fucking amazing by the way! Again, everyone from Jager, SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY, and CHIMAIRA's crews treated us like gold. They totally looked out for us and made sure we were OK. These were the biggest shows GOD FORBID has played to this point. I could get used to playing in front of 4-5,000 people a night. I was very suprised in how receptive and open SLIPKNOT's crowd was to our music. The off dates on Ozzfest are gonna kick ass. SLIPKNOT has to be if not the most, one of the most intense live acts ever. They blew me away every night, are very cool people.

"In case you didn't hear, GOD FORBID recently shot a video for 'Anti-Hero' with director Dale Resteghini. Dale and everyone with Raging Nation did an amazing job working with our tired asses. I'd like to thank all of the people who showed up as extras. We originally intended for the video to be more crowd involved, but we secured a location very late, and it was located way out on Long Island on a really shitty, rainy day. We appreciate the support from the fans. I hope those who made it enjoyed the experience. The video isn't finished yet, so I can't tell you exactly what the video is, but we are definitely taking a different angle than most metal bands today. Those who are familiar with the song and the lyrics know that this song tackles issues about our country, our president, and the war. The video should give some idea about how we feel.

"The touring machine does not stop for GOD FORBID anytime soon. We've got a week of dates with MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD coming home from the MACHINE HEAD tour. Than 3 weeks in Europe with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, CHIMAIRA, and SHADOWS FALL, which is looking to be monstrous with the ticket sales so far. We can't wait to hit the UK! Ozzfest is approaching, and with the latest additions on THROWDOWN and DARKEST HOUR, this historical tour just keeps getting better. Congrats to both bands! The fall is looking like GOD FORBID's first trip to Japan! All of these developments are unbelievable. Gottta run, but we'll see you on tour NUGGA!!!!!!!!!!!"
