GLENN HUGHES: New Touring Drummer Announced

May 13, 2005

According to a post at GHPG.net, Swedish drummer Sebastian Sippola will take over Thomas Broman's spot in Glenn Hughes's (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) live European band lineup, as he has been asked to join Glenn and his band for their summer tour. Sippola's first appearance with Hughes will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria on Saturday, May 28.

Sippola was previously in one of Sweden's most renowned bands, PLANKTON, who have been around since 1998 and are heavily influenced by music of the Sixties and Seventies. They mention bands/artists like JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE, THE BEATLES, ELECTRIC SUN, MOUNTAIN, DEEP PURPLE, JEFF BECK, LED ZEPPELIN, CREAM and several others as sources of inspiration. Prior to hooking up with PLANKTON, Sebastian was in SOUTHFORK, who originally started out in 1997. Their influences included FREE, KISS, MOTÖRHEAD, MOUNTAIN, JOHNNY WINTER, AC/DC, LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH and DEEP PURPLE.

Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) will be Hughes' drummer for the two dates in Holland following the Sofia gig — Arrow Rock Festival on Saturday, June 11 and De Boerderij on Sunday, June 12.
