GLENN HUGHES And JOE LYNN TURNER Recording With Moscow Deputy Mayor

September 29, 2004

MosNews.com is reporting that former DEEP PURPLE members Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner are collaborating on a music project with no less than the deputy mayor of Moscow, Mikhail Men, who, it turns out, dabbles in music.

Men said he got the idea to record together with Hughes and Turner while listening to some hard-rock songs he wrote when he was young. "As a result, together with producer Alexander Berezhny we risked offering Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner to perform the music," Men was quoted as saying by Interfax.

The rock legends agreed, and together with the deputy mayor have set to work on nine new songs — Men wrote the music and Hughes and Turner wrote the lyrics to what they said had a distinct Russian motif.

Speaking at the press conference, Hughes said he enjoyed working with this new kind of music and expected to surprise his fans.

The album — with a working title of "Made in Moscow" — is set for release in December.
