GLEN DROVER, TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Interviewed On 'The Metal File'; Audio Available

November 13, 2008

Former MEGADETH/KING DIAMOND guitarist Glen Drover and powerhouse heavy metal vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) were interviewed for this week's "The Metal File" podcast from Montreal's CHOM-FM. You can stream the show online at this location.

Glen Drover filled in for Alex Skonick on TESTAMENT's recent Mexican dates with JUDAS PRIEST because Skolnick had prior commitments with the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA.

Glen Drover left MEGADETH at the end of last year and was replaced by Chris Broderick, who has previously played with NEVERMORE and JAG PANZER.

Tim "Ripper" Owens will perform at the first annual Montreal Metal Gathering on November 15 at La Place À Côté in Montrea, Quebec, Canada. Tim says, "I will be hanging with everyone during the day and signing autographs then getting up on stage and singing 10 to 15 classic metal tunes!!!! And whatever else they want me to do! This is a don't-miss event. Get in your car, on a plane and get there… one-of-a-kind night! There will be other guests there as well."

Tickets are 35$ and very limited.

D.X. Ferris of the Cleveland Free Times recently spoke to Owens about Tim's forthcoming solo debut, which he has been recording in Los Angeles. Tentatively due in early 2009, the album will include guest appearances by Billy Sheehan (ex-MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH),Rudy Sarzo (DIO, ex-OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT, WHITESNAKE),David Ellefson (F5, ex-MEGADETH) and many other veterans. Bob Kulick (KISS, W.A.S.P.) and Chris Caffery (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, SAVATAGE) collaborated on material with Owens while John Comprix, Tim's BEYOND FEAR bandmate, plays rhythm guitar and co-wrote some of the songs. Mike Callahan (DISENGAGE, EARSHOT) also contributed.

"[The solo record] was my management and label's decision," Owens told the Cleveland Free Times. "I think they want to show I can do this on my own. If anything, it proves that BEYOND FEAR is a band, and this is my solo record."
