GENE SIMMONS On 'Today Show'; Video Available

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons made a guest appearance on yesterday's (Thursday, June 4) edition of the "Today Show" on NBC with hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford. He was there to promote the new season of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" that premieres this Sunday, June 7 on A&E.

During his appearance on the program, Simmons revealed that he raised $15,000 for a good cause — by selling his kidney stone in a online auction.

Simmons said he recently suffered the ailment, but came up with a unique use for the solid formations of urinary minerals after passing it through his body.

He said, "I passed a kidney stone and I put it on eBay for charity. (I got) $15,000."
