GASHOUSE GARDEN: CHILDREN OF BODOM, NORTHER Members Join Forces In New Band

May 6, 2005

GASHOUSE GARDEN, the new Finnish metal band featuring Mertsa (vocals; CHINA CAT),Kristian Ranta (lead guitars; NORTHER),Jaska Raatikainen (drums; CHILDREN OF BODOM),Lauri Porra (bass; SINERGY, KOTIPELTO, WARMEN),and Jaakko Teittinen (guitars; CRAYDAWN),have launched their official web site at www.gashousegarden.com.

According to the group's official biography, "GASHOUSE GARDEN was founded in 2003 by Ranta and Raatikainen. Jaska and Kristian had been thinking about forming a possible project band for some time. One weekend night, after some beers, the guys came up with the idea of GASHOUSE GARDEN. The band had been born and the guys started rehearsing. Kristian made some songs and the music started to find its identity. After some time, Jaska asked his old friend Jaakko from CRAYDAWN to join the band because a second guitarist was needed due to the nature of the songs. Kristian decided to invite his old friend Lauri to listen to GASHOUSE GARDEN rehearsal. Lauri came and joined the band. Now the only thing missing was the singer... On on winter night Kristian was in a local heavy metal bar, where they have heavy karaoke... and one girl was singing AC/DC so loud and well that it totally impressed the whole crowd, including Kristian, in the bar. Kristian decided to ask if this girl (Mertsa; CHINA CAT) wanted to join the band. Mertsa liked the stuff and joined the band. The guys were happy. Now the line-up was completed. GASHOUSE GARDEN decided to record a demo and a demo was soon recorded at Janne Wirman's [CHILDREN OF BODOM] studio in Helsinki. At the moment GASHOUSE GARDEN is looking for a record deal."
