GAMMA RAY: Festival Recap

August 12, 2003

German power metallers GAMMA RAY have posted the following message on their official web site:

"GAMMA RAY returned from a rather festive weekend last Sunday — happy, exhausted (no wonder - it's been almost forty degrees Celsius!) and overwhelmed with the great response they had received from the audience at Wacken and at Hultsfred [festivals].

"[Wacken Open Air] and Gates Of Metal saw the band (featuring FREEDOM CALL keyboard player Nils Neumann) performing slightly modified 'Skeletons In The Closet' sets, with Sweden getting a few extra numbers, as well as a surprise guest appearance by former vocalist Ralf Scheepers [of PRIMAL FEAR] at Wacken. GAMMA RAY wish to say a big thank you to everybody who was in front of the stage at two shows and made both nights another two memorable events. A big cheers to you all!

"In the meantime, GAMMA RAY have added one more festival show to their touring activities this summer. Alongside with MASTERPLAN, the band will play an outdoor show at Banska Bystrica, Slovakia on Saturday September 6th.

"As some overseas media might have indicated, there is currently talk about more gigging and touring later this year, but so nothing has been confirmed so please don't rely on false information — as soon as further dates are watertight, we'll let you know immediately."
