Former TNT Singer's Father Wins GENESIS AWARD

March 4, 2008

Former TNT singer Tony Harnell has issued the following update:

"It's official! Boyd Harnell (my father) has won the Genesis Award for the second straight year in the Media category for bringing attention to the dolphin slaughters in Japan. The Genesis Award is a prestigious award given out to those who have done a lot for animal rights issues. He'll be presented with the award in Hollywood on March 27th. This is such an important issue that everyone should know about. I should add that my dad puts his life in danger by doing this as the people behind this horrific practice are pretty brutal."

Boyd Harnell previously won a Genesis Award in 2006 for his article on the dolphin slaughters happening in Japan.

The Genesis Awards, presented by The Hollywood Office of The HSUS pays tribute to the major news and entertainment media for producing outstanding works in television, film, print and the arts which raise public understanding of animal issues. Genesis Awards are presented annually at a star-studded ceremony drawing representatives from the media, entertainment, social, business and humane communities.

The nation's premier consciousness-raiser, the awards are bestowed by a host of celebrity presenters, and the event is taped for broadcast to expose millions of viewers to animal wrongs — and animal rights.

Tony Harnell recently uploaded three new demo tracks to his official MySpace page:

01. Cinematic
02. Out from Under the Black Cloud
03. The Show

Commented Harnell: "I decided to share a few of my new demos with you. Not all the songs will end up on my solo album. I am experimenting with different ideas and thought I would open that up to all of you. The Internet has changed everything and it just seems old fashioned and silly to hold music back till the final album when you could be enjoying new songs now. These are DEMOS so they are not perfect or finished which I think is the charm of the whole thing. And you can't download but you can come and listen anytime."

Harnell's final release as a member of TNT was the "Live in Madrid" DVD, which came out in September 2006 via MTM Music. The set, which was filmed on April 1, 2006 in Madrid, Spain, was accompanied by an 82-minute audio CD plus booklet liner notes from Harnell about his work with the group as well as an additional tour documentary by Darren Paltrowitz.
