Former DREAM THEATER Keyboardist Gets Help From ZAKK WYLDE On New Solo Album

January 10, 2006

Former DREAM THEATER/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN keyboardist Derek Sherinian is currently working on his fifth solo album at his own Beachwood Manor Studios in Burbank, CA. This new album is slated to be released June 2006 on InsideOut Music in the U.S. and Europe, and Marquee/Avalon in Japan.

After a nine-month world tour with BILLY IDOL, Sherinian went immediately into the studio. With the immense reception to last year's album "Mythology", he decided to bring back several of the available players that made it happen. "This is the fourth solo record of mine that Zakk [Wylde, OZZY OSBOURNE/BLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist] has played on," explains Sherinian. "Zakk is the real deal and I am very fortunate to be able to work with him."

The lineup of musicians performing on Sherinian's new solo album includes Wylde, John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER),Steve Lukather (TOTO),Simon Phillips (TOTO, THE WHO, JUDAS PRIEST),Tony Franklin (THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER),and Brian Tichy (BILLY IDOL, OZZY OSBOURNE).

Sherinian gained worldwide recognition as a member of DREAM THEATER from 1994 until 1999. He has also toured and recorded with ALICE COOPER, KISS and BILLY IDOL, among many others.
