Exclusive: EMPEROR To Play Final Two U.S. Shows As Four-Piece

July 16, 2006

Legendary Norwegian black metallers EMPEROR performed to energetic capacity audiences at New York City's B.B. King Blues Club July 13 and July 14 without guitarist Samoth due to previously reported immigration delays (as exclusively reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET on July 13). Despite continued efforts from representatives in both the United States and the band's home country of Norway to resolve the situation, EMPEROR will perform the final two shows planned in Los Angeles also as a four-piece.

After further dialogue with the U.S. embassy in Oslo Friday afternoon, Samoth said, "It seems there is no progress on my visa today either. That pretty much makes it the last chance for me to participate on the U.S. tour dates. I can't believe this is actually happening. All of this is beyond the band's control. I'm glad to hear the show did well last night and that the fans are being supportive. We really appreciate it. Hopefully I'll make it over at a later point."

EMPEROR arrived on U.S. soil for the first time in years on Wednesday, July 12. The band signed autographs for near two hours at Borders Books & Music in New York City on July 14. An autograph signing is scheduled for Los Angeles on July 17 at Tower Records starting at 6:00 p.m.

EMPEROR will perform to a sold-out crowd tonight (July 16) at the Key Club and tomorrow (July 17) at House of Blues. The band will headline Germany's Wacken Open Air festival on August 5.
