Ex-THE CROWN Guitarist Issues Update On ANGEL BLAKE Project

August 15, 2007

ANGEL BLAKE guitarist Marko Tervonen (ex-THE CROWN) has issued the following update:

I have been in touch with record labels (always a slow process) that have shown interest in ANGEL BLAKE, and it seems like all this will be sorted out in a very near future. More about that in a later post. I've also been really busy in the studio recording other bands as well, but now it's time to put the focus on the next ANGEL BLAKE album, that's for sure!

"OK, so the actionplan is this: Get the business stuff sorted out first, and then continue finishin the last couple of tunes and decide on a cover song (oh yeah, love doing those). Too bad PAIN decided to do BJÖRK's 'Play Dead'. I had a really cool version of it that I planned on using, but now it feels a bit stupid to do. Damn you, Peter!!! And then straight away start the real recordings.

"At this point me and [vocalist] Tony [Jelencovich; ex-MNEMIC, TRANSPORT LEAGUE] have demoed about half of the album and the final result actually gives me the shivers when I listen to it. I don't know if that's good thing concidering it's my own music, but that's a fact. I remember that happening years ago when I wrote 'Bow to None' and 'In Memoriam' for 'Possessed 13' (THE CROWN, anyone?)... The sound could be described as more heavy, higher pace, different vocal styles, more punchy production, some very gloomy moments, catchy hooks etc. I'm actually so pleased with the demo versions that I just might put a sample here on MySpace, so you can check out what I'm mumbling about. The best feeling I get from listening to the new stuff is that I hear that the music has taken a giant leap forward, and that has always been a very (if not the most) important goal for me as an artist/composer... I don't want to repeat myself."

ANGEL BLAKE's current lineup is as follows:

Tony Jelencovich (ex-MNEMIC, TRANSPORT LEAGUE) - Vocals
Marko Tervonen (ex-THE CROWN) - Guitars
Janne Saarenpää (ex-THE CROWN) - Drums
Örjan Wressel - Contrabass
Anders Edlund (INCAPACITY, SOLAR DAWN) - Guitars

ANGEL BLAKE's self-titled debut album was released in North America on April 4, 2006 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Tervonen's Studio MT, which is located three kilometers from Trollhättan, Sweden.
