Ex-MEGADETH Guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN Postpones Indonesian Guitar Clinics

May 20, 2005

Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman has posted the following message at his official web site:

"To my friends and fans in Indonesia,

"I am very sad and upset that I am going to have to postpone my two guitar clinics in Jakarta and Surabaya this month. I was very much looking forward to meeting my Indonesian fans for the first time, and on top of that I even had my only day off on the entire tour planned for Jakarta so I could I meet my fabulous webmaster and his family who live there.

"Television news like CNN may exaggerate their stories, but when I heard about the anti-American sentiment and the demonstrations at the U.S. embassy I was alarmed but still planned to go. After some research, I found that the U.S. government just issued an OFFICIAL TRAVEL WARNING urging Americans not to go to Indonesia, dated May 16th, updated from a previous warning on March 23rd.

"As much as I am truly looking forward to playing for my Indonesian friends for the first time, after giving the matter serious thought it has been decided that it is not in my best interest to ignore the U.S. Government's warning and go at this time.

"I am truly sorry especially to the many people who have worked very hard to put the event together to try to make it a success for me. Your efforts are truly appreciated.

"I will reschedule these events as soon as possible and I promise to make it up to you when I get there.

"Thank you very much."
