Ex-ICED EARTH Drummer RICHARD CHRISTY For 'The Howard Stern Show': Voting Ends Tomorrow

June 29, 2004

Century Media Records publicist Heather Smith has sent out the following message:

"What would you give for your dream job?

"My friend Richard Christy started life as a good ol' Midwestern boy with two talents, rhythm and a killer sense of humor. As well as learning about tippin' cows and balin' hay, Richard heard the metal call and picked up the drumsticks at age 10. After hundreds of hours rehearsing in school and at home he began to play in cover bands, and eventually established himself in the Midwest with PUBLIC ASSASSIN (later and still called BURNING INSIDE, his longest-running band) as one of the most accomplished and unknown extreme drummers around. In late 1995 he packed up his drums and moved to Florida with the rest of the band where he eventually got to write, record and tour the world with Chuck Schuldiner and the legendary band DEATH. Chuck and Richard became best friends, but as we know Chuck's life sadly ended prematurely.

"During Chuck's illness Richard got an offer to play with yet another monumental band, ICED EARTH. As drummer for 3 albums he again got to tour the world, record music he loved and in general live 'the life', but Richard Christy never copped an attitude throughout any of it. Richard always stayed a down-to-earth, genuinely nice, and extremely funny individual...completely grounded and still humble after all he's been fortunate enough to do. For years Richard has been recording his own songs/jingles/skits and sending tapes to 'The Howard Stern Show', not to mention calling and leaving dozens of messages that were later played over the air. Over the last decade Richard has almost become his own character for the show; chances are if you're a Stern fan you've have heard his material before, and last week he took the first step in fulfilling a dream... audition for Stuttering John's job!

"There are not many people in the world as genuine, passionate and nice as Richard Christy. How many times in your life can you really help another individual achieve their dream? Please take a second and vote for Richard Christy."
