Ex-HADES Guitarist: GEORGE W. BUSH Is Not A Liar

July 27, 2004

Former HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo is the latest metal musician to offer his views on the political situation in Iraq. What follows is Lorenzo's "open letter" on the subject, as sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Musicians probably shouldn't speak about politics. We alienate half our audience and we're not the brightest people on the planet.

"Just a few observations from the other side-a conservative Republican who plays metal.

"Keep in mind I'm not a normal musician though — I have a job (on the books, so I report all my income),I've never cheated on my wife, I don't drink alcohol, and the worst drug I ever did was smoke some pot over 10 years ago.

"For those of you who say Bush lied about WMDs [weapons of mass destruction], you're wrong. I equate this to be similar to when Hillary Clinton said her husband Bill wasn't a cheat. Based on the information she had (he would constantly lie to her),she wasn't lying. She was given incorrect information by somebody she trusted.

"Don't call Bush a liar, be upset with the information the CIA gave Bush and Clinton. Be upset that Russian intelligence told Bush Iraq had plans of attacking us after 9/11.

"I know how much the liberals admire Saddam and his track record... I still think it's better that he's out of power. I guess you're probably upset that Libya has agreed to dismantle too.

"You don't think somebody as honorable as Saddam would hide WMDs in another country, do you? After 9/11 we in New Jersey/New York could still see and smell the smoke. The nation rallied together. We were, for the most part, on the same page.

"As the days passed, some wondered why Bush didn't do more before the terrorist attacks on our nation. Now they are upset that he did too much too soon in Iraq. Imagine if we waited too long.

"Am I happy about the war? Absolutely not! Was it a perfect plan? Obviously, no. Do I agree with Bush's stance on everything? Of course not. Is he the best speaker in the world? Not even close. So why will I vote for him? Because of the Republican ideology. Because I live in an area that will be affected by terrorism.

"It's fine with me if you don't like or vote for George Bush. Just don't say he lied about WMDs. Think of Hillary scoffing at the idea that her husband was making a fool of her. She was misinformed."
