EVANESCENCE's WILL HUNT Slams 'A Small Group Of Morons' For Torching His 'Beautiful' Drum Kit At KNOTFEST MEXICO

December 2, 2019

EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt says that "a small group of morons" is responsible for the riot that ensued when the band canceled its set at Knotfest Mexico Saturday after a broken barricade sparked safety concerts at the festival.

SLIPKNOT and EVANESCENCE called off their performances due to the barricade problem, which began after the security barriers were pushed down during BEHEMOTH's set. After organizers were unable to fix the issue, the sets were scrapped.

A viral video from Knotfest captured several incidents of vandalism, including fans storming the stage, grabbing Hunt's drum kit and then lighting it on fire.

On Sunday, Hunt took to his Instagram to post several videos of the riot and the aftermath and included the following message: "So, a lot of questions about this. First and foremost everyone is ok. We love Mexico and as a whole the fans are incredible. The riot that happened was a small group of morons and they WILL NOT change my love for the Mexican people or our fans in Mexico. As for the rest of it, here are my (somewhat comical) take aways.

"1st- Do you even riot bruh?! I mean, hell, if you're gonna do it, REALLY do it!! Burn the whole fuckin' thing down!!! What you pack of pu@$ies did was weak and stupid- JUST LIKE YOU. 2nd. If you're gonna torch my beautiful @pearl_drums kit that meant the world to me (second video),at least cook some meat or marshmallows over the fire!! Fuckin' weak ass pu@$y AMATEURS!! Again- weak and stupid JUST LIKE YOU. And 3rd- to the kind worker trying to clean up the mess- before you cart off my still smoldering kit (third video and because it used to rock so hard it's still on fire!!) you should probably make sure the embers are out because IT CAUGHT BACK ON FIRE SMOKEY!!!

"So there ya go......... Moral of the story is don't half ass anything...... least of which, your fucking riot, which again was WEAK AND STUPID JUST LIKE YOU FUCKING MORONS...."

One fan in attendance posted video of equipment being destroying and included the following message: "Today when I went to #KnotFest I was expecting a grand, cool festival. Got this instead. This doesn't represent metalheads nor mexicans. Only fucking morons that can't behave properly."

The first-ever Knotfest Meets Forcefest was slated to be held over two days at the Parque Deportivo Oceanía venue. This year, Knotfest joined forces with Forcefest, combining two massive festival brands over one weekend. The Knotfest day was scheduled to take place on Saturday, with Forcefest happening on Sunday, December 1, headlined by Rob Zombie.

Knotfest is the brainchild of SLIPKNOT and the band's longtime manager, Cory Brennan of 5B Artists And Media.
