EDGUY Hard At Work On New EP

May 11, 2005

German melodic metallers EDGUY are hard at work on their new EP, "Superheroes", tentatively due in September via Nuclear Blast Records. Producing the effort is Sascha Paeth (KAMELOT, AINA, RHAPSODY) at the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg. Apart from the mid-tempo title track none of the featured songs will be found on the forthcoming album, according to a post on the band's web site.

Commented vocalist Tobias Sammet: "Working with Sascha is incredibly refreshing. The new shit kicks ass, sounds cheeky at times but always fresh. An up-to-date production, still pompous and big. ...

"On the EP there will be five songs, one is gonna be an overlong up-tempo epic track, which we are maybe gonna invite some of my AVANTASIA buddies for to share some vocals with me. This would suit this song so damn well, so it's a must. That being said: We won't need to hype it as an all-star super project, there have been much too many already anyway. And I think the stuff is strong enough to speak for itself."

In other news, Sammet has posted the following message regarding the rumors that he was recently involved in a car accident:

"Just heard some rumors about my car accident. Just for the record: Yes, it's true! No, I am not injured! On May 1st a wrong-way driver appeared in front of me on the divided highway in my lane. At about 80 m.p.h (respectively 130km/h) I skidded into the guardrail but nobody got injured (except car and guardrail). Though my guardian angel was shocked. But it's all fine, no big deal... Rock 'n' roll!"

EDGUY will be embarking on a North American co-headlining tour with HAMMERFALL in August. Exact cities and dates can be found at Edguy.nu.

EDGUY's most recent album, "Hellfire Club", was released in March 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Mandrake" was produced by EDGUY and Norman Meiritz, with additional assistance from Sascha Paeth (RHAPSODY, ANGRA). The final mix took place at the famous Finnvox Studios (NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS) in Helsinki, Finland.
