Drummer CARMINE APPICE Signs Book Deal With ALFRED PUBLISHING

February 1, 2006

Drummer/author/educator Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, CACTUS, BECK/BOGERT/APPICE, ROD STEWART) ahs signed a 10-year agreement with Alfred Publishing to distribute a line of educational percussion books. (Alfred, on December 24, 2005, bought Warner Bros. Publications, one of the world's largest publishers of printed music, from the Warner Music Group.) Under the new agreement, Alfred retains rights to existing Appice drum education books, plus they will publish all future Appice book projects.

Appice's hugely popular "Ultimate Realistic Rock" has been a steady seller since 1972. Since then, "Realistic Rock For Kids", "Rudiments To Rock" and "Ultimate Play-Along Drum Trax: Carmine Appice Guitar Zeus", all featuring two CDs within each book, have been favorites for fans and students alike. The accompanying CDs feature numerous cuts, minus drum tracks, which are replaced by drum charts, so aspiring rock stars can drum up a storm. The "Zeus" title features music from Carmine's upcoming solo album, "Ultimate Guitar Zeus" (Escapi Records) to be released this spring, which will feature such six-string luminaries as Steve Morse, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, Ted Nugent, Brian May, Richie Sambora and Zakk Wylde.

"Carmine is a legendary drummer with amazing talent and great vision," says Ron Manus, Alfred's Executive Vice-President. "We've had some incredible discussions and brainstorms together and we're blown away to be working with him. He's a great guy and a blast to hang out with!"
