DISTURBED Frontman: Pope Was Symbol Of All That Is Good And Moral Within Church

April 5, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: Most people probably wouldn't expect a heavy metal singer to have any insights into the death of Pope John Paul II, but DISTURBED frontman David Draiman is not your typical metal singer. He has very strong opinions on religion in all its forms, and told Launch what he felt Saturday's (April 2) passing of the 84-year-old pontiff meant for the Catholic Church. "He was the one really truly remaining wholesome element of the old generation of churchgoing folk," Draiman said. "He'd become the symbol of what, all that is good and moral within the Church, as opposed to the other things that are going on in it, and I think they're gonna be really hard-pressed to elect a Pope that has the same kind of effect and charisma and can keep the Catholic Church together."

DISTURBED is currently in Chicago, working on its yet-to-be-titled third album at the studio of producer Johnny K. A late summer/early fall release is planned.
