DIR EN GREY made their stateside debut with a showcase at the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference in Austin, Texas in March before following it up by stops at the 800-capacity Avalon in New York and the 2,000-capacity Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles (both of which sold out within hours of being announced online). An appearance at this summer's The Family Values Tour alongside KORN, DEFTONES, STONE SOUR and FLYLEAF brought the group further acclaim, a stint which was captured for the upcoming "The Family Values Tour 2006" CD and DVD, due on December 26 via Firm Music.

The Japanese-speaking band gained its audience without singing in English, according to Billboard.com. The quintet has been building in popularity in its home country for about 10 years, releasing four full-length albums through either Firewall Div or Free-Will Japan and a variety of singles and video collections.

DIR EN GREY's "Withering to Death" album was released in the U.S. in May via Warcon Enterprises.
