DIMMU BORGIR Joined By DJERV/Ex-ANIMAL ALPHA Singer On Stage In Oslo (Video)

October 28, 2010

DJERV/ex-ANIMAL ALPHA frontwoman Agnete Kjølsrud joined Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR on stage at their October 18, 2010 concert at Sentrum Scene in Oslo to perform the song "Gateways". Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

In a recent interview with Music-Photocalypse.net, DIMMU BORGIR frontman Shagrath (real name: Stian Tomt Thoresen) stated about the band's collaboration with Kjølsrud on DIMMU's latest album, "Abrahadabra", "I'm a very big fan of her previous band called ANIMAL ALPHA. Agnete is also a good friend of mine. We met out in the city. I've been talking to her a lot and I also like her new band DJERV. So I asked her if she wanted to become a part of one song on the album and she said yes, 'cause she is also a fan of DIMMU BORGIR. So she came to the studio, we nailed it in a couple of hours, it was done."

Agnete, who is also featured in the "Gateways" video, had this to say about the DIMMU BORGIR collaboration: "I feel being asked by DIMMU BORGIR to perform on their album was a big vote of confidence, and I'm very proud to be a part of this album.

"Working with them in the studio was very easy. They had ideas on what they wanted me to do, but they also gave me room to add my own melodies to the songs.

"Before getting involved in this album I had a lot of respect for DIMMU BORGIR, and this experience made me realize even more how extremely well-worked-through their music is.

"Not only are they true professionals, but they are also really great guys. I had a really great time doing this!"

"Abrahadabra", the ninth album from DIMMU BORGIR, sold 9,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "In Sorte Diaboli", opened with 14,000 units back in May 2007 to debut at No. 43. This was more than double the 6,400 first-week tally achieved by its predecessor, "Death Cult Armageddon", which came out in September 2003 and landed at position No. 169 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The word "abrahadabra" (which roughly translates into "I will create as I speak") first publicly appeared in Chapter III of "Liber AL vel Legis" (commonly referred to as "The Book of the Law") written by Aleister Crowley in Cairo, Egypt in 1904.
