DIMEBAG's Video Tribute To Late DROWNING POOL Singer Posted Online

February 5, 2005

PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's touching video tribute to late DROWNING POOL frontman Dave Williams has been posted online at DROWNING POOL's official web site. The 14-minute collection of highlights from home videos that Dimebag edited himself was originally included on DROWNING POOL's "Sinema" DVD, which was released in November 2002 through Wind-Up. Watch the video at this location (Windows Media).

The 30-year-old Williams was found dead on the DROWNING POOL tour bus on August 14, 2002 while the band were touring as part of the U.S. Ozzfest. An inquest into the singer's death in September 2002 concluded that Williams died from cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disease for which he was never diagnosed. No traces of drugs were found in the vocalist's system, finally dispelling widespread speculation about the cause of his death.

Dimebag and three others were killed by a deranged gunman on December 8, 2004 at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio.
