DIMEBAG DARRELL Sets Record Straight On Split With WASHBURN, Switch To DEAN

November 18, 2004

DAMAGEPLAN guitarist Dimebag Darrell (ex-PANTERA) has issued the following statement regarding his recent switch from Washburn Guitars and Randall Amplifiers to Dean Guitars and Krank Amplification:

"Contrary to the press release issued by US Music in which [because of] the way it was worded, [it] came across that I was dropped from their company, which is not the 'TRUTH' at all. The 'TRUTH' is... I left US Music. US Music asked me to renew my contract and I chose not to, for many, many reasons... I took the Washburn thing as far as it could go, but I needed to move on to get where I want this to be. Dean Guitars is the answer to moving forward.

"I have always believed in quality and integrity, and with the craftsmanship that is put into a Dean guitar, along with a neck design that is so comfortable, was the thing I always loved about my original guitar, my blue lightning-bolt Dean ML.

"This is the first time Dean Z and I have gotten an opportunity to work together.

"It's really awesome to be working with new guitar designs and some really killer new paint jobs, along with a master guitar builder that I have always admired. Wait 'till you get a load of the Razorback that's headed your way!

"With the combination of the 'Master Builder' and the hot-rodded, Dime-ized version, we have a new line of bad-ass Dime Guitars that I'm really excited about! Well, Dean B. Zelinsky is back and so am I! Going to Dean is like comin' home for me!

"I really believe my fans and any guitar players out there will respect the quality and craftsmanship that goes into a Dean guitar as much as I do. Trust me... you can see, hear and feel the difference for yourself. I've also decided to make Krank Amplification my home. When it comes to building a bad-ass muscle amp that you can rely on... Krank is the shit! The first time I plugged in, I knew this was where I'd find my tone and take it to the next level. I am currently playing the Krank Revolution onstage while we are developing the Dimebag Krankenstein signature amp...which is insane! This is my best product ever!

"I'm very proud of the superior quality of both of these companies. Bottom line...you can judge for yourself!

"I want to thank each and every rocker and roller out there who has always stuck by me, believed in me, and supported me through all my decisions. You fuckin' rock!

"Keep rippin'!"
