DESTRUCTION: No German Shows Planned In 2006

December 21, 2005

According to a posting on DESTRUCTION's official web site, a trailer airing on the Swiss TV station DRS for the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs will feature the heavy riffs of the DESTRUCTION song "Soul Collector", taken from the band's latest album, "Inventor of Evil". No further information is currently available.

In other news, DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer has posted the following message in the band's official forum:

"We have just returned after some weeks of touring Europe. I'm a little burned out but have a lot of great memories in my head! We have played the very first time in Serbia, Macedonia and Romania — which was really cool 'cause the headbangers there do really live for our music! I could tell by their enthusiasm and the look in their eyes when we hit the field! Although the experiment that brought a major doom and thrash act on one bill was maybe a little bit too freaky for some countries! But hey, all in all, it was a fatastic tour that had their top shows in Greece, Finland, Italy, Holland, [U.K.] and Serbia! Best turnout had Athens with arround a thousand metal maniacs and a circle moshpit that was as big as half of a fuckin' basketball field!

"About our decision to not play any German shows in 2006: We have played all the big German festivals more than once in the last [few] years, which was truly fantastic. Now we did the German club shows with CANDLEMASS and they had a really poor turnout. I would say the weakest of all countries on this recent tour(nament). That doesn't make sense, 'cause Germany is one of the strongest territories for us. As for CANDLEMASS... That leads to the conclusion that if people saw you on the festivals too many times, they won't (maybe can't — money-wise) show up at the club shows!

"We love to tour the clubs — that's where thrash metal works best! If we go on with all the festivals we won't be able to play a club tour anymore — this is out of fashion, old-school thrash metal, hard enough to book tours already anyways!

"I hope you guys understand that decision. We'll return in 2007 with a new product, festivals and club shows to Ger-money! We'll now concentrate on the countries where we didn't have the chance to play much in the last years, like Russia (East Europe in general),Spain, Malaysia, hopefully France and North America.

"The tour with CANDLEMASS in general was fantastic! They are great guys and are the fuckin' doom gods. We would always hit the road again with those funny Swedes!

"Thanx to those who came to the shows and gave us such a great support!

"A big 'hailz' also goes to the support bands: DEATHCHAIN, AFTER ALL and PERZONAL WAR. I know it wasn't always easy (storms, breakdowns, cancellations and late crowd appearances...) but you guys rocked like pros! Our ways will surely cross again..."
