DESPISED ICON Completes New Album, Shoots New Video

March 1, 2007

The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON have completed work on their highly anticipated sophomore Century Media release with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand (BENEATH THE MASSACRE, ION DISSONANCE, NEURAXIS). The new effort was mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, MEGADETH) and is currently scheduled for a May 22 release. The group kicked off a three-week Canadian/U.S. tour this week as direct support to JOB FOR A COWBOY before heading to Europe in March with UNEARTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY and DAATH. See below for the complete itinerary.

DESPISED ICON just shot a new video for the track, "In the Arms of Perdition", with director Jean-Philippe Bernier. This clip is a stunning performance based offering that puts emphasis on the band’s frantic live intensity. Look for it to make its debut this spring.

Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report: "I can't tell you how stoked we are to finally be back on the road after spending the last four months writing and recording. Andy Sneap is currently nailing the mix and everything sounds killer. I swear this will undoubtedly be our most punishing record yet. Expect to hear a new track in the next few weeks.

"We just spent the entire weekend shooting a video for it at -40F on a secluded icy mountain near Quebec City. Our buddy JP is working his ass off on the video, which should premiere soon. If you can't wait to hear it, make sure to check us out live because we're definitely playing it every night. See you on the road!"

DESPISED ICON's undying work ethic throughout 2006 earned them a rabid and loyal underground following through high-profile tours alongside such esteemed acts as HATEBREED, BEHEMOTH, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, NAPALM DEATH, EXODUS, MORBID ANGEL, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD and KRISIUN. The group's unrelenting stage presence was unmatched as their latest album, "The Healing Process", was hailed as a stunning slab of sheer aggression backed with impeccable time changes that quickly raised the bar for their peers.

In 2007, DESPISED ICON are determined to deliver an album that will leave people astonished as they further establish their position as one of the genre's most devastating new acts.
