DEFTONES: Canadian Tour Dates Announced

May 31, 2007

DEFTONES have announced the Canadian leg of their ongoing world tour. Directly following the United States portion of the trek, DEFTONES will be heading out on a full cross-Canadian run beginning in Victoria, B.C. on July 9 and concluding on July 28 in Toronto as a headliner at this year's Wakestock Festival. This will be the first time since "White Pony" that the band has headlined its own Canadian tour. FROM FIRST TO LAST and Canada's own DIE MANNEQUIN will be along for the ride this summer. Confirmed dates so far are as follows:

July 09 - Victoria, BC - Curling Club
July 11 - Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
July 12 - Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
July 14 - Edmonton, ALB - Shaw Conference Center
July 15 - Calgary, ALB - Mac Hall
July 19 - Regina, SAS - Doris Knight Hall
July 28 - Toronto, ONT - Wakestock Festival

In other touring news, DEFTONES will drop back down to the U.S. on July 21 for WKRL's K-Rockathon 12 in Syracuse, NY. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. EST.

DEFTONES have reportedly already started work on their new album. Frontman Chino Moreno told Billboard.com that the Sacramento, Calif.-based quintet has set up a backstage writing room where they're creating new material.

"We're going in there and playing as five of us in the room with just our instruments, no other distractions," he explained. "That's how we started out, basically, when we first started the band — us in the garage, no ProTools or anything to get us ahead of ourselves. We'd just play things over and over again, until we remembered it — that's the rawest way you can do it, and the best, I think."
