DEF LEPPARD Went A Bit Off The Beaten Path For New Album

Launch Radio Networks report: It would be easy for a band to make a covers album that only had famous songs, but the newly released "Yeah!" shows that DEF LEPPARD wasn't afraid to stretch a bit. The album mixes well-known material alongside some more obscure songs, and guitarist Phil Collen told Launch that was a conscious decision. "We tried to avoid anything obvious. We, we didn't do BEATLES and STONES, or QUEEN and ZEPPELIN. We done 'Waterloo Sunset' (by the KINKS) — we tried to avoid doing 'You Really Got Me', and stuff like that," he said.

The first single from "Yeah!" is DEF LEPPARD's version of "Rock On", the DAVID ESSEX hit from 1974 that reached No. 5 on the pop chart.

DEF LEPPARD kicks off a short European tour on June 3, after which they'll hook up with JOURNEY for a three-month-long North American tour that starts June 23 in Camden, New Jersey.
