DEF:IGNITION: More Details Revealed

March 11, 2003

More information has surfaced about DEF:IGNITION, the new San Francisco Bay Area band fronted by SKINLAB singer Steev Esquivel. Joining Steev in the new group are ex-UNDER/VICE guitarist Jack Cargile, former DEFIANCE/UNDER bassist Mike Kaufmann and ex-UNDER drummer Hugo. According to Esquivel, the band's original material "is killer… Killer choruses, music is solid… Everyone that hears it is trippin'… I love SKINLAB but I'm looking at this as a clean slate, ya know? Plus, it's a little mellower."

As previously reported, DEF:IGNITION will be making their live debut on Friday, April 18 at the Pound in San Francisco. Also appearing on the bill will be ARMAGETITON (featuring SKINLAB drummer Paul Hopkins),KRENSHAW, and DRAGWATER. DEF:IGNITION, whose sound has been described as mixture of HELMET and ALICE IN CHAINS, will be playing a 25-minute set during the show, which is being staged as part of the 420 Festival Pre-Party. A debut demo is tentatively set to be recorded during May/June.
