DEEP PURPLE Keyboardist DON AIREY: Munich Footage Posted Online

January 22, 2009

Video footage of DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Don Airey's January 20, 2009 concert at Metropolis in Munich, German can be viewed below (clips uploaded by "eblinternational"). Airey and his band performed a set largely based on his new solo album "A Light in the Sky", alongside a selection of songs from Don's previous groups.

Airey's solo band consisted of the following musicians:

Don Airey - Keyboards
Carl Sentance - vocals
Clive Bunker (ex-JETHRO TULL) - Drums
Lawrence Cottle - Bass
Rob Harris (JAMIROQUOI) - Guitar

The group's setlist was as follows:

01. Spotlight Kid
02. Bad Girl
03. A Light in the Sky
04. Pale Blue Dot
05. Andromeda M31
06. Shooting Star
07. Endless Night
08. Rocket to the Moon
09. Love You Too Much
10. Ripples In The Fabric of Time
11. Big Crunch
12. Brandenburg
13. All Night Long
14. Mr. Crowley
15. Lost in Hollywood
16. Since You Been Gone
17. Parisienne Walkways
18. Black Night

Don Airey released his latest solo album, "A Light In The Sky", in February 2008 via Mascot Records. For the effort, Airey gathered together a different set of collaborators (though Laurence Cottle of Sting/ Eric Clapton/ Brian Eno/ Bill Bruford fame once again contributes precision bass-playing),though naturally Don provides the record's central creative thrust — an entertaining mixture of instrumental and vocal songs, from the "Bladerunner"-style "Ripples In The Fabric Of Time" to the hook-laden hard rock of "Shooting Star".
