DECREPIT BIRTH Drummer Explains Absence From KATAKLYSM Tour (Audio)

February 22, 2011

Drummer Samus Paulicelli of Santa Cruz, California-based tech-death masters DECREPIT BIRTH has released an audio message in regards to the band missing the first two weeks of the "Spread The Venom Tour" with KATAKLYSM and ALL SHALL PERISH. DECREPIT BIRTH was forced to sit out the first ten dates of the trek because Samus could not leave the state of New Jersey for legal reasons, as he explains in his "audioblog" found at TheLiveLine. The band will join the tour on March 7 in San Francisco, California. In his audioblog, Samus also reveals that he and DECREPIT BIRTH guitarist Matt Sotelo will be recording a new video that they will be posting in the near future.

You can hear Paulicelli's entire TheLiveLine message using the audio player below (message originally recorded on Sunday, February 20).

TheLiveLine is a service MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine launched that enables musicians to connect to their audience over the phone.

About TheLiveLine: In the spring of 2008, Dave Mustaine and friend Scott Holmen approached the founders and president of SmartReply, Inc. with Dave's concept of using their technology to engage fans and artists. This innovative platform would serve as a way for fans to let the artists know what they are up to and for artists to keep fans informed of what is going on in their world.

In the summer of 2008 a Beta version of TheLiveLine.com was released and it was a smashing success. Fans and artists engaged in communication via mobile phone (voice and text messaging) and the TheLiveLine web site, which gave them exactly what they were looking for — up-to-the-minute information from each other.

"Polarity", the third album from DECREPIT BIRTH, sold around 1,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 18 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Polarity" was released on July 27, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD artwork was completed by cult artist Dan Seagrave (MORBID ANGEL, ENTOMBED, SUFFOCATION).

Drums for "Polarity" were tracked at Sharkbite Studios (MACHINE HEAD, EXODUS) in Oakland with producer Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, SUFFOCATION, IMMOLATION) while the rest of the recordings were overseen by guitarist Matt Sotelo before the entire effort was mixed by Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios.
