DEATHENING To Release 'Open Up And Swallow' This Month

Swedish death metallers DEATHENING will release their debut album, "Open Up And Swallow", on January 28 via Rakamarow Records. The CD contains "ten tracks [of] powerful, fast-paced technical riffs as well as shuffle-oriented death, tied together by melodic leads and brutal vocals," according to a press release.

Based in Malmö and Gothenburg, Sweden, DEATHENING comprises members from EMBRACED, MURDERPLAN, SUPRALOAD, CARPET KNIGHTS and WRAPTORS. The band was formed in 2007 by engineers/producers Pål Callmer and Arnold Lindberg who had played together in various bands since the mid-Nineties.

Previously known as lead vocalist of black metal band EMBRACED (Regain Records),Kalle Nimhagen has, with DEATHENING, "taken his voice to an uncompromising level of guttural rawness blended with high-pitched vicious screaming," according to a press release. Drummer Arnold Lindberg is a well-known sound engineer/producer who has made albums for IN FLAMES, DIMENSION ZERO, EVERGREY, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, DARKEST HOUR, DIMMU BORGIR and DRAGONLAND, among others. He has toured as engineer for IN FLAMES, THE HAUNTED, EUROPE, WITCHERY, DESTRUCTION, HAMMERFALL, KAMELOT and HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, to mention a few. In addition Arnold plays the drums in MURDERPLAN and is the lead singer in SUPRALOAD. Guitarist and songwriter Pål Callmer is the founder of MURDERPLAN (along with Fredrik Söderlund of PUISSANCE and OCTINOMOS),SUPRALOAD and the guitarist in the progressive rock band WRAPTORS.
