DEAN GUITARS Team Wishes DAVE MUSTAINE Speedy Recovery Following Cancer Diagnosis

June 17, 2019

All of the staff at Dean Guitars wish a heartfelt and speedy recovery to legacy artist Dave Mustaine following his public statement with a diagnosis of throat cancer.

Since 2007, the MEGADETH leader has been a staunch and vocal supporter of the brand and an integral part of Dean Guitars' mission and success.

Dean CEO Evan Rubinson says: "We rally behind Dave and his family at this time of need and offer any and all support. One of our Dean family is dealing with something that is close to home for me, and we wish, with all our hearts, healing for our brother."

Led by Rubinson, Dean Guitars is a musician-run enterprise, having worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, on the biggest stages, and in the best studios all over the world. Since 1977, Dean Guitars has catered to musicians in all genres, at all skill levels, and has the most recognizable headstock profile in the industry.

Mustaine revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier today on social media. He said that he has already begun treatment as part of a plan that his doctors feel has a "90% success rate."

Mustaine was a member of METALLICA for less than two years, from 1981 to 1983, before being dismissed and replaced by Kirk Hammett. He went on to form MEGADETH and achieve worldwide success of his own.

In the past three and a half decades, Mustaine has earned a loyal following. The Southern California native can be considered an architect of the speed metal movement, which is one of many branches on the family tree of heavy, guitar-based music.
