DAVE NAVARRO Comments On 'Rock Star: INXS' Co-Hosting Gig

May 25, 2005

Former JANE'S ADDICTION/RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Dave Navarro has commented on his upcoming stint as the co-host of a new CBS-TV reality series called "Rock Star: INXS" (premiering on Monday, July 11, from 8-9p). As previously reported, Navarro will host alongside Brooke Burke of the travel series "Wild On". "Rock Star: INXS" will follow a group of vocalists as they compete each week to reach the final goal of becoming the lead singer of INXS. The winner will tour with the band and appear on its next album.

Asked by a fan on his official web site what made him decide to take part in the show, Navarro said, "A lot of reasons. First and foremost, it seems like a lot of fun. I am also a huge fan of Mark Burnett's shows, such as 'Contender' and 'The Apprentice'. I jumped at the chance to work with him. This one is right up my alley. Really talented and undiscovered vocalists doing great rock songs and living together while auditioning for the same spot. It's gonna be a fun summer for sure. Plus, it certainly doesn't suck to work with Brooke Burke every day!"

Navarro starred in his own reality series last year on MTV, called "'Til Death Do Us Part", which followed the preparations for his wedding to actress Carmen Electra.

The guitarist's new band, THE PANIC CHANNEL, is currently mixing its debut album and meeting with major labels, according to Launch Radio Networks. In addition to Navarro, the group features former JANE'S ADDICTION drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney, along with ex-SKYCYCLE singer and former MTV VJ Steve Isaacs.
