DAVE MUSTAINE Makes Up His Mind Regarding Future Of MEGADETH

September 28, 2005

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I have made up my mind [regarding whether I will continue with MEGADETH or pursue a solo career] and will tell you all on the night of the Buenos Aires concert [on October 9]. It will be up to the fans in Argentina to break the news to you after their last song."

Mustaine recently parted ways with Sanctuary Records, the label that released three album from MEGADETH, including 2004's critically acclaimed "The System Has Failed", which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart. The latest MEGADETH release, "Greatest Hits: Back to the Start" (Capitol),entered the Billboard chart at No. 65 and has sold 92,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On the concert front, MEGADETH headlined this summer's inaugural Gigantour package tour with DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY and others. The six-week festival trek — with the fan-friendly ticket price of approximately $35 each — was the brainchild of Mustaine, who hand-picked the bands for Gigantour with a focus on musicianship.
