DARKEST HOUR Announces Headlining Tour

September 9, 2010

Washington, D.C. metallers DARKEST HOUR will embark on a headlining tour this fall with support from VEIL OF MAYA, PERIPHERY and very special guest opener, which will be announced soon.

Celebrating its 15-year anniversary as a band, DARKEST HOUR will be performing selections spanning its entire career — from the band's debut full length, 2000's "Mark Of The Judas", to 2009's "The Eternal Return". Included will be the epic instrumental "Veritas, Aequitas" along with other surprises from DARKEST HOUR's catalog.

"This band has taken us from the basements of northern Virginia to literally all around the world," says frontman John Henry. "In our many years of full time touring and six albums we’ve had the time of our lives. To celebrate this we’ve decided to do a tour we feel reflects the history of the band. This tour is for every one of our fans and friends who have supported us along the way, and for those who have never seen us this will be the perfect way to check out what we’re all about."

Adds guitarist Mike Schleibaum, "We’re excited to have some great younger bands on tour with us for this run. All of the support bands are very impressive metal hybrids with their own distinct sound, which will make for many nights of sick metal riffage."

Today through Monday, early-sale tickets will be available only through Artist Arena with registration at this location. In addition to general-admission tickets, the band is offering a special edition VIP package with the following:

DARKEST HOUR recently entered a North Carolina studio with producer (and SOILWORK guitarist) Peter Wichers to begin recording its new album for an early 2011 release via eOne Music.

This time around, the DARKEST HOUR songs were composed a bit differently than was the case in the past. Guitarist and founding member Mike Schleibaum explains, "We have been working on these tunes ever since we left the studio last April.

"'The Eternal Return' was written during a very dark, bleak time for the band and I think that record matches that in both tone and character. Our vision was for it to be an in-your-face, no-frills aggressive assault. The new material shares in that aggression and pushes DARKEST HOUR beyond the unknown."

Wichers, who has previously helmed such acclaimed albums as ALL THAT REMAINS' "The Fall of Ideals" and SOILWORK's latest effort, "The Panic Broadcast", states, "I am very exited to work alongside the DARKEST HOURS guys, and I know from hearing some of their new material that it will be a killer [record]."
