DARKANE Begins Work On New Album

December 13, 2006

DARKANE guitarist Christofer Malmström has posted the following message on his official web site:

"It's been quite quiet (haha) from DARKANE this autumn. In September we played a sold-out show together with SOILWORK at the Tivoli in Helsingborg, and after that we have been working on the new (fifth) DARKANE album and at the same time trying to find time to edit the live DVD that will be released some day in 2007. We've put together a lot of extra material... from all studio recordings and a lot of tour stuff as well. If you've followed DARKANE through our career you will definitely find this DVD worth the money. The live show is also very cool. It was filmed at The Tivoli in May. The club is quite small, but you'll get the feeling that you are there watching the show. The camera men are up close with the audience and it almost feels like you can touch us... if you would wanna do that for some reason.

"The songs we've written so far sound like DARKANE I would say, but there will be some new elements as well. We can't sound the same on every album, and I'm pretty sure we haven't, so if you've like what we've done before you won't be disappointed. Klas (Ideberg; guitar) has spent seven weeks on the American roads with HYPOCRISY as a stand-in guitarist, and he returned home yesterday. However I haven't met him yet to hear about his trip.

"I have recorded a guitar solo for the project TERROR SYNDROME that has been put together by DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND / NON-HUMAN LEVEL drummer Ryan van Poederooyen. He has put together a very cool lineup consisting of various well-known musicians and I'm very proud that he wanted me in as well. I played on a song called 'Riot of Red', and it kicks ass, so I demand you all to check it out when it's released next year. I have also done a guest solo on Legen Beltza's album 'Dimension of Pain' that was released few weeks ago on Mausoleum Records. Other musicians involved in the album are John Dones (CARDINAL SIN),Johan Lindstrand (THE CROWN),Norman Skinner and Steve Rice (IMAGIKA),Johan Liiva (ex-ARCH ENEMY, HEARSE),Martin Akesson (IMPIOUS). Check it out too!

"To update this site I have put together 40 photos from the U.S. tour that DARKANE did together with FEAR FACTORY, SOILWORK and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD a year ago. Check it out at the Personal Gallery.

"Finally my thoughts go out to Chuck Shuldiner who passed away December 13, 2001. R.I.P!

"Have a great and evil Christmas and a brutal metal 2007."
